Introducing Our New Outreach Manager: Kathryn Kirk

My introduction to working with CSASS has already been an exciting and rewarding experience. Since starting in September, I have already been involved with the Saturday Social group, raising funds with Chester Business Charity Walk, attending Chester Pride and an invite to the University of Chester Fresher’s Fair.

My background is working with the community, facilitating individuals to be successful in reaching their goals and aspirations. My initial training was to teach performing arts; working with all ages from toddler to adult groups.  I have taught in vocational schools, undergraduate and post-graduate training, as well as being an examiner.  I continue to perform in street theatre and choreograph with a woman’s group at the Storyhouse in Chester.

My diverse interests all converge now with helping and reaching out to others, which is why I hope to become a significant member for the Chester Sexual Abuse Support Service.

The most recent event was Chester Pride, the CSASS stall was very well attended, with visitors from the region flocking to support all of the activities and local groups in the Well Being Tent. Conversations about being ‘heard’ and ‘listened to’ were the main themes for most of the organisations, represented at the lively event.  The drizzle in the afternoon didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit, with rainbows worn by everyone. There was lots of interest in the campaign CSASS is leading in November.

The international event, Reclaim the Night for girls and women in Chester, has already sparked a good response with both organisations and local people.
