A letter from Chris Mann, CSASS Chair of the Board of Trustees

Chris Mann, Chair of the Board of Trustees for CSASS

Please allow me to introduce myself – my name is Chris Mann and I became Chair of the Board of Trustees for CSASS in June this year.  I very much hope over the coming months that I will get to meet and chat with all of our members, either at an event or in the office, but I thought it might be helpful for me to share a little bit about myself with you.

I became involved with CSASS in January 2017, joining the Trustees and becoming Secretary for my sins!  I am a mother of 3 grown-up kids, and my background is in education, although now retired from full-time work.  I feel very strongly about enabling, empowering and supporting individuals to face the challenges life throws at us, to work through the hurt so often experienced, and to embrace the opportunities which emerge along the way.  Working for positive outcomes for survivors of sexual abuse and violence seems to me my natural home.

“Counselling cannot take away the past, but it can give us the strength to face the future.”

I take over the Chair at a tremendously hopeful time for CSASS – we have a cracking team in the office, an astonishing band of volunteers, a strong Board of Trustees, and feedback from survivors that leaves me in no doubt about the vital and powerful nature of the work of CSASS.  Thank you so much for your contribution.

I look forward to meeting you soon, but please do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have anything you want to raise.

Meanwhile, 2 dates for your diary, if I may…

Sunday 15th September Chester Charity Walk – this is a delightful Sunday morning stroll around the river, a chance to meet and chat with others.  You can be sponsored or not, but either way, you can have bacon butty halfway round!  I’d love to see you there!

Saturday 12th October CSASS Organisation Morning – this is an opportunity for all of us who care about the work, reach and future of CSASS, to get together, chew some stuff over, and think outside the box, just a for a few hours.  I would value your input enormously.
