Last week in the blazing sun we had a thank you picnic with our work-based learning placement student as she came to the end of her five week stint with us. Luckily it’s not goodbye, as she’s already a volunteer with us, but it’s been fab to have her working for us for 30 hours/week. She writes:

‘As a part of my second year studying Sociology at the University of Chester I have taken part in a work based learning placement, and I couldn’t have been happier working at CSASS over the past five weeks. I have loved every minute of it and never expected to learn so many important and valuable things about what it’s like to work in a small charity and also about myself! In the (too) short time of working at CSASS I have helped organise training sessions, gotten involved with events, gotten to learn about similar organisations in and around Chester, talked about what CSASS does as an organisation to diverse groups of people, and so much more which has allowed me to build on the skills I already knew I had and also make new ones. I’ve had a fantastic experience working with all the members of staff, counsellors and other volunteers and I can’t wait to work with CSASS in the future!’
