On a Saturday in March, we held our first creativity and campaigning group, with the focus on Survivors’ Knitwork.
Survivors’ Knitwork is working nationally on a giant shared scarf project, to highlight sexual violence and to support survivors. So across the country individuals have been making 20 x 20 cm purple squares (knitting isn’t obligatory, but in fact nothing is obligatory, it’s all very informal), and it was great to start the process in Chester. Over a couple of hours, we made and decorated purple felt squares, did some amazing crochet and knitting, and chatted too.
Our next meeting is on Saturday 23rd April, so please get in touch if you’d like more details. It’s a chance to use creativity as a means of breaking down barriers and raising awareness.
